7-Day Kilimanjaro Hike Lemosho Route — Scenic Trekking

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a scenic drive to Londorossi Gate, where you'll complete park registration before continuing to Lemosho Gate, the official starting point of your trek. The trail winds through lush montane rainforest filled with towering trees, vibrant birdlife, and the possibility of spotting colobus monkeys and buffalo. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings as you make your way to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp, your first overnight stop on Africa's highest mountain.

Leave the rainforest behind as you ascend into the heath and moorland zone. On clear days, you'll catch your first breathtaking views of Kibo Peak, the mountain's highest volcanic cone, as you arrive at Shira Camp 2.

Today's trek follows the renowned "climb high, sleep low" acclimatization strategy. Cross the expansive Shira Plateau before ascending to Lava Tower (4,642 m), where you'll pause to adapt to the altitude. Afterward, descend into the scenic Barranco Valley, surrounded by giant senecios and the towering Barranco Wall, before reaching Barranco Camp.

Begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, one of Kilimanjaro's most exciting and rewarding sections. From the top, enjoy spectacular panoramic views before trekking across the mountain's southern slopes to Karanga Camp, an important acclimatization stop that prepares you for the higher elevations ahead.

After taking photos and enjoying the incredible scenery, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.

Upon reaching Mweka Gate, you'll complete the park exit formalities and receive your well-earned Kilimanjaro Summit Certificate in recognition of your incredible achievement. Your driver will then transfer you back to Arusha, where you can relax and celebrate the successful completion of your climb to the Roof of Africa.
